In the summer of 2013, R2L hosted its first Summer Harvest Series. Each week R2L featured a different ingredient and composed four courses centered on that ingredient. The ingredients, produce from local farmers, included: carrots, summer squash, plums, corn, tomatoes, fava beans and melon. For the last dinner of summer, R2L hosted all of the local farmers involved with the Harvest Series and was able to include all of the produce featured throughout the summer. It was a great opportunity for the farmers to have the chance to dine with us and enjoy the dishes that were created using their fresh seasonal produce.
This year we did things a little differently, we showcased 6 local farms and Chef Stern was able to create a unique and personalized menu to fully utilize that farms produce. On September 12th we will hosting the Finale Dinner to conclude our second series. In attendance will be Birchrun Hills Farm, Breakaway Farms, Blooming Glen Farm, Terhune Orchards, Barefoot Gardens and Shibumi Farm. The full menu is coming soon.
